A More Shapely You!
A breast lift gives a more youthful appearance by raising the breasts. This is accomplished by removing any excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissue in order to reshape the breast and provide contour.
Breast lift surgery will not round out the upper part of your breast or change its size, however it can improve your figure by giving your breasts a more youthful shape, perkiness, and firmness. As you experience different changes in your life, breasts can sag and lose their elasticity and make you feel older than your actual age. Pregnancy and breastfeeding can take a toll on the appearance of your breasts, as can weight fluctuations, and aging.
More information about Breast Lifts:
Many women’s breasts will lose their shape or begin to sag and lose volume. You may want your nipple to be placed in a more pleasing position. Breasts can become more elongated or become pendulous. Sometimes one breast may hang lower than the other. Nipples and areolas can point downward instead of forward. If any of these have happened to you and you want to regain your youthful appearance, then a breast lift may be exactly what you need to get your figure back and feel better about yourself!
After having the procedure, you will see immediate results. Any post-surgery swelling will diminish over time and the results of your breast lift will improve over the next few months as you recover from your procedure.
Time and gravity can continue to affect your breasts, however maintaining your weight and a healthy lifestyle will help your breasts continue to look youthful.
It is highly recommended that a breast lift should only be considered after you are finished having children and breastfeeding. The reason for this is that your breasts change during pregnancy which can negate the positive effects that a breast lift can provide. Additionally, any significant weight loss (after pregnancy or otherwise) can also affect breast appearance.
Ultimately a breast lift focuses on breast position and contour. If you desire more volume in your breasts as well as a lift, then breast augmentation surgery can be done along with the breast lift.
Are You a Candidate for a Breast Lift?
Not everyone is a candidate for cosmetic surgery. If you are in the process of losing weight, it is best to wait until you have reached your goal weight before undergoing any kind of cosmetic procedure. Additionally, if you are still planning on having children, it is best to wait until you have had your child and recovered from the pregnancy. The reason for this is because weight fluctuations can affect the long-lasting benefits that are gained from having cosmetic surgery. Additionally, if you are currently a smoker, you will need to stop completely prior to undergoing any type of procedures since smoking can affect both the healing process and the results gained from a procedure. Also, it is important that you have a positive attitude and a realistic outlook about what surgery can do for you. An unhealthy lifestyle and poor overall health can negatively impact your appearance.
Your Breast Lift Consultation
A breast lift consultation will involve a detailed conversation about your appearance goals and medical history. Body proportions and overall physical health vary from person to person. Dr. Won will recommend the best surgical techniques that will ensure your safety and meet your aesthetic preferences.
Be ready to provide your complete medical history, including current prescriptions and allergies. This will help determine which types of anesthesia will be safe for use during the procedure.
The Procedure
Your breast lift will be performed at Eviva Surgery Center located in Shoreline. The first step that happens during a breast lift procedure is anesthesia and/or sedation. It will take at least 30 minutes for the anesthetic to take effect. Once it has taken effect, the surgeon will create incisions.
There are three types of incision options for a breast lift. The appropriate incision will depend on how much your breast needs to be lifted. Dr. Won will recommend the most suitable incisions for your breasts.
The first incision option goes around the areola. The second type goes around the areola and continues vertically downward to the breast crease. The third type goes around the areola, vertically downward to the breast crease, and horizontally along the breast crease.
After creating the incisions, the breast tissues underneath the skin will be lifted and reshaped to enhance breast contours and firmness. The nipple and areola will be repositioned for a youthful appearance, and if the areola is too large for the breast’s preferred appearance, the surgeon may excise the skin around the perimeter to reduce its size.
At this point in the breast lift, the excess skin will then be removed to tighten the breasts. The incisions will be closed with sutures, skin adhesive, and/or surgical tape. Incision lines are permanent, but they can fade and improve over time.
