Conveniently located to serve the Greater Seattle Area
If you’re considering Botox® in Seattle, our practice offers personalized neuromodulator treatments designed to soften the fine lines and dynamic wrinkles that come with everyday expression.
At Dr. Won Cosmetic Surgery in Shoreline, your treatment is performed by Dr. Alvina Won, a board-certified cosmetic surgeon whose surgical and aesthetic training inform her approach to each injection.
Whether you’re new to Botox® or looking for a trusted provider for ongoing care, our team takes time to understand how your facial muscles move and what natural-looking outcome you have in mind.
What Is Botox & How Does It Work?
Botox® is an FDA-approved injectable neuromodulator made from a purified form of botulinum toxin type A. It works by temporarily relaxing the targeted muscles responsible for repeated facial expressions, which softens the lines those muscles create over time.
When small amounts of Botox® are injected into specific muscles, the overlying skin smooths, and creases become less visible. Botox® does not add volume; it simply quiets muscle movement in targeted areas, which is why it pairs well with dermal fillers when volume loss is also a concern.
What Areas Can Botox® Treat?
Botox® is most often used in the upper face, where dynamic wrinkles form from squinting, frowning, and raised brows. During your consultation, Dr. Won will assess your facial movement and recommend a plan based on the areas you’d like to address.
Common Botox® treatment areas at our Shoreline practice include:
- Forehead lines: Horizontal lines that appear when raising the brows.
- Frown lines, or the “11s”: Vertical lines that form between the eyebrows.
- Crow’s feet: Fine lines that fan out from the outer corners of the eyes.
- Bunny lines: Small wrinkles on the sides of the nose that show up when scrunching.
- Vertical neck bands: Visible cords on the front of the neck that can become more pronounced with age.
Other concerns, such as preventative treatment, brow shaping, or lines around the mouth and chin, may be discussed during your consultation. Dr. Won will recommend treatment only when it suits your anatomy and goals.
Benefits of Botox® Treatment
For patients in Seattle and surrounding areas, Botox® offers a non-surgical way to address expression-based aging with minimal downtime.
Reasons many of our patients choose Botox® include:
- A short, in-office appointment with no general anesthesia.
- Minimal interruption to work or daily routine.
- Softer-looking dynamic wrinkles while preserving natural facial expression.
- Customizable dosing based on your facial anatomy and goals.
- An option that may be combined with other cosmetic injectables when broader rejuvenation is the goal.
Who Is a Good Candidate for Botox®?
You may be a good candidate for Botox® if you have wrinkles caused by repeated muscle movement and want a non-surgical way to soften them. Patients in good general health, with realistic expectations and the patience to wait through Botox®’s gradual onset, are typically well suited for treatment.
Botox® may not be appropriate if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a known allergy to any of its ingredients, have a neuromuscular disorder, or have an active skin infection in the treatment area. Share your full medical history and any medications you are taking during your consultation so Dr. Won can determine whether Botox® is right for you.
How to Prepare for Your Botox® Appointment
A little preparation before your appointment can help reduce the chance of bruising and support a smoother experience.
In the days leading up to your treatment, we generally recommend:
- Pause non-essential blood-thinning medications and supplements when medically appropriate. Items like aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E, and ginkgo can increase bruising. Only stop a prescribed medication after speaking with the prescribing physician.
- Avoid alcohol for about 24 hours before treatment, as it can also contribute to bruising.
- Postpone facials, peels, retinol, and exfoliating acids before your appointment. Irritated skin can affect comfort during injections.
- Come in with a clean face if possible to make the visit easier.
- Share your full medical history. Include current medications, supplements, and any previous reactions to neuromodulators.
If you have specific questions about preparation, your provider will give you tailored guidance during your consultation.
What to Expect During Your Botox® Treatment
Your visit begins with a brief consultation. Dr. Won will study how the muscles in your forehead, between your brows, and around your eyes move when you make expressions. This step is what shapes a treatment plan that respects your natural facial dynamics.
The injections themselves are quick. Your skin is cleansed, a topical numbing cream may be applied for added comfort, and Dr. Won uses a fine needle to place small amounts of Botox® in the targeted muscles. Most patients tolerate the injections well, and any discomfort is brief.
Most appointments take roughly 10 to 15 minutes from start to finish, and you can return to most normal activities right after.
What to Expect After Your Botox® Treatment
You may notice mild redness, small bumps, or pinpoint bruising at the injection sites. These usually resolve within 24 to 48 hours, though timing can vary. Follow the specific aftercare instructions Dr. Won provides at your visit.
General aftercare guidance often includes:
- Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours. Heat and increased blood flow can disturb the settling product.
- Skip facial massage and pressure on treated areas for at least 24 hours to help prevent product migration.
- Postpone retinol, exfoliating acids, waxing, and peels for at least 24 hours, or longer if your provider advises to give the skin time to recover.
- Avoid lying flat for several hours after your appointment. Staying upright can be helpful.
- Stay out of saunas, hot tubs, and direct sun exposure as your provider recommends, as heat may affect comfort and bruising.
Reach out to our Shoreline office if you notice anything that concerns you between visits.
When Will I See Results From Botox®?
Botox® delivers gradual, subtle changes rather than an overnight transformation. Many patients notice early softening within 3 to 5 days, with full results typically visible around two weeks after treatment.
Results commonly last 3 to 4 months. With consistent treatments over time, some patients find that their muscles respond more efficiently, and results may feel longer-lasting.
Maintenance appointments are scheduled around how your face responds and what cadence works for you.
How Much Does Botox® Cost in Seattle?
The cost of Botox® at Dr. Won Cosmetic Surgery depends on the number of areas treated, the amount of product needed for your facial anatomy, and the goals you and Dr. Won set during your consultation. Stronger muscles or larger treatment areas may require more product, while smaller areas may require less.
Dr. Won will provide a personalized estimate during your consultation. We accept CareCredit for patients who would like to spread out the cost. Cosmetic Botox® is generally not covered by insurance.
Botox® Before and After Photos

Botox® FAQs
We’ve gathered answers to questions our patients in Seattle ask most about Botox® treatment.
How long does Botox® last?
Most patients enjoy results for 3 to 4 months. Longevity varies based on muscle strength, the area treated, dosing, and individual response. With ongoing maintenance visits, some patients find their results feel longer-lasting over time.
Is Botox® safe?
Botox® is FDA-approved and has a long history of clinical use. Like any medical treatment, it should be performed by a qualified medical provider. At our practice, treatments are performed by Dr. Alvina Won, a board-certified cosmetic surgeon.
Does Botox® hurt?
Most patients tolerate Botox® injections well. The needles are very fine, and any discomfort is brief. A topical numbing cream can be applied beforehand if you prefer.
Can I get Botox® if I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?
Botox® is not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. If you’re planning a pregnancy or unsure, please share that with Dr. Won at your consultation.
What are the possible side effects of Botox®?
Common, temporary effects include mild redness, swelling, small bumps at injection sites, or pinpoint bruising; these typically resolve within 24 to 48 hours. Less common effects can include headache or temporary asymmetry.
Contact our office promptly if you experience drooping of the eyelid or brow, difficulty swallowing, vision changes, breathing difficulty, or any reaction that concerns you.
Can Botox® be combined with other treatments?
Yes. Botox® is often combined with dermal fillers to provide a more comprehensive approach to facial rejuvenation. Botox® softens dynamic wrinkles, while fillers can restore lost volume in areas like the cheeks, lips, and lower face.
What's the difference between Botox® and Dysport®?
Both Botox® and Dysport® are neuromodulators that relax the muscles behind dynamic wrinkles. They are formulated slightly differently, and Dr. Won will help you decide which option fits your goals based on the area being treated and your past experience with neuromodulators.
Is there an ideal age to start Botox®?
There’s no ‘right’ age to start. Some patients begin Botox® preventatively in their late 20s or early 30s, while others start later when lines become more visible. The best way to find out what makes sense for you is a consultation.
How should I prepare for my Botox® appointment?
Pause non-essential blood-thinning medications and supplements when medically appropriate, avoid alcohol for about 24 hours, and postpone facials, retinol, or exfoliating treatments before your visit. Detailed instructions will be provided ahead of your appointment.
